The High Voltage Indicator 15kV Kit serves as a crucial safety measure in maintenance and installation procedures, effectively indicating the presence of voltage up to 15kV. This ensures the secure earthing of apparatus and safeguards personnel from potential electrical hazards.
The complete High Voltage Indicator kit comprises the following essential components:
Indicator complete with earth lead (F0356A)
Proving unit complete with batteries
Polymer cleaning kit
Instruction manual
Carry satchel
These components can also be supplied individually to meet specific requirements.
Using a reliable resistor chain method of measurement, the High Voltage Indicator (HVI) provides accurate voltage indication, supporting both AC and DC systems. It effectively displays voltage presence within switchgear enclosures and on busbars through the use of neon indicators.
During operation, the HVI undergoes a proving test to validate its functionality. Subsequently, it is applied to the high-voltage source, with the neon indicators signalling the presence of voltage. The neon lights begin flashing at as low as 200V and gradually increase their flash rate until a steady state is reached at 6.35kV, representing the phase-to-earth voltage in an 11kV system.
To ensure on-site testing, we offer a battery-powered electronic proving unit that enables verification before and after use. Additionally, special bent end adaptors (60˚ or 90˚) are available as accessories for compatibility with switchgear installations.
The High Voltage Indicator is suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage under dry conditions. Its operating temperature ranges from -5˚C to +50˚C, enabling reliable performance across varying environments. The instrument also boasts high immunity to interference fields and features a handguard with a viewing window, enhancing user safety and usability.
Our partners, Acutest, Alpha Electronics, Cuthbertson Laird, Norwich Instrument Services, and PASS Ltd offer the HVI 15kV Kit in the United Kingdom. If located outside Great Britain, instrument is available through our worldwide distribution network.
